Why Geetha Govindam is problematic ...

... and why condoning seemingly innocuous content of such films could prove to be dangerous.

After watching #GeethaGovindam I am convinced that some people working in the Telugu Film Industry need some serious, very serious psycho therapy. I wouldn't mind if they're all admitted into a mental health facility and made to undergo a rigorous bootcamp on what constitutes as basic decency. Because only an indecent morally bankrupt director who is obviously completely out of touch with reality can think it is OK to write and execute a scene where the "hero"(who plays a PHYSICS PROFESSOR in the movie. PHYSICS PROFESSOR ladies and gentlemen) kisses a random girl on a bus, WITHOUT HER CONSENT, AND takes a selfie while doing it AND(double face-palm) AND strongly believes that he's still got a shot at wooing that poor girl after apologising and harassing her to forgive him! You know what? Someone did something like this on a plane in real life, and that person is in a jail somewhere in USA(look it up, it's true), and will most likely be a registered sex offender for life. That's what happens to perverts by law, last time I checked. Unlike they've shown in the movie -- the pervert doesn't get the girl and they don't happily live ever after. That just happens in badly made cinema directed by morons sans conscience.
In a country where the rate of rape and molestation of women is skyrocketing by the hour -- most of which actually happens on a bus -- these irresponsible filmmakers seem to not care about the repercussions of glorifying badly behaved perverted men. How can you condone the impact and influence of cinema? People mimic heroes all the time -- and sometimes these immature humans don't even think twice about the consequences before mimicking cinema, because it validates such behaviour. What's even more appalling is the hypocrisy of the Censor Board - how can such scenes be condoned by the ONE authority that actually has the power to change things? And they wanted to ban Padmaavat!
